Why sentiment carries the most weight

Star averages flatten everything into one number, and two contractors can land on the same 4.3 stars for completely different reasons. One might have a clean record with the occasional minor gripe about scheduling. The other might have the same average pulled up by volume while sitting on a repeated complaint about, say, plaster finish quality or a crew that never comes back to fix a leak. You cannot see that difference in a star count alone. You can see it by reading what recent customers actually describe happening on their pool jobs. That's why sentiment, our synthesis of recent review themes, is weighted above the star rating itself. It's the closest thing to catching a pattern before it becomes your problem.

Why the other signals matter

Rating still matters because it's the fastest public signal of overall satisfaction, and it's worth nearly as much weight as sentiment.
