What is a pool cage or screen enclosure?

A pool cage, also called a screen enclosure, is a skeletal framework made from aluminum columns and beams fitted with mesh screening that surrounds a swimming pool on all sides. The structure typically runs from the pool deck to an overhead support, creating a fully enclosed environment above the water and surrounding area.

In Florida's subtropical climate, the primary purpose of a pool cage is practical protection. The screening keeps out mosquitoes, gnats, flies, and other insects that breed in warm, moist conditions.
